SMS - Acid Neutralization Tanks

Municipalities across Canada are becoming increasingly concerned about the effect of hazardous effluent entering their sanitary sewer systems. Restrictions such as PH levels have been imposed on waste discharged into municipal sewers.

The use of SMS Neutralization Tanks allows facilities to legitimately discharge their waste into municipal sewer systems. In addition to confirming to local by-laws, the use of neutralization tanks also reduce corrosive attack on their drainage system.

ALL SMS NEUTRALIZING SYSTEMS ARE MANUFACTURED FROM BLACK CARBON PIGMENTED, U.V. STABILIZED POLYETHYLENE, not natural translucent polyethylene as is the case with all other manufacturers. The Black Carbon Pigment stabilizes the polyethylene making our sumps resistant to harmful U.V. rays. Tanks manufactured from natural translucent polyethylene are susceptible to attack from U.V. rays which can cause the material to brittle and crack over time.

Top assemblies and inspection ports are a minimum of ½” thick extruded high density, stress relieved fabrication grade polyethylene sheet stock. All fittings are a minimum of series 60 high density polyethylene pipe. Welding: is fusion or Inhert gas (nitrogen) to provide superior strength. Full stainless steel hardware and neoprene or EPDM gaskets as required to suit application.

SMS - Sediment Interceptors

Interceptors contribute to reducing potentially dangerous blockages and subsequent back-ups. Typical installations requiring sediment interceptors would be: art rooms, plastering sinks, geological science and biology labs.

The same quality and workmanship found in our neutralizing tanks is utilized in the fabrication of all SMS sediment interceptors. Innovative design features such as a positive discharge into the inner basket, primary 3/8” holes on 1” centers and secondary 1/8” holes on 1/4” centers, and a solids retention chamber and basket locating guides provide for optimum performance. All other manufacturers do not have these features; which allows the inner basket to “float” and rotate freely within the sump and is more susceptible to clogging.
